How to get to L'Aquila PDF Print

L’Aquila is a middle-size town, located about 100 Kilometres from Rome, on the east side. It is
easy to reach by bus (train not recommended) from both Rome and Pescara airports.


ROME - L’AQUILA

The “Autolinee ARPA” bus to L'Aquila leaves from the National Bus Station in Rome, which is
close to the Tiburtina Train Station in Rome. Follow the instruction to get there, depending on the
destination airport of your flight

A. If the destination airport of your flight is the Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino):
1. Take the direct train from the Leonardo da Vinci Railway Station to the Tiburtina Railway
Station (every 20 minutes from 6.15 am to 12.15 pm). The whole journey takes about 45
minutes (ticket costs 5,50 euros). Additional information here .


B. If the destination airport of your flight is Ciampino (for many low-cost flights):
1. Take the bus from the Ciampino Bus Stop to the Anagnina Underground Station (every
15-20 minutes, ticket costs 1.00 euro). Additional information here .
2. Take the underground train (Line A) from the Anagnina U.S. to the Termini U.S. (every 5
minutes, ticket costs 1.00 euro). Additional information here .
3. Take the underground train (Line B) from the Termini U.S. to the Tiburtina U.S. (every 5
minutes, use the same ticket of step 2). Additional information here .


Move from the Tiburtina Railway (Underground) Station to the National Bus Station, which is just
across the main exit (1 minute, walking distance). Purchase a bus ticket (cost 9,10 euros) for
L'Aquila from the Biglietteria C (Ticket Office C), and take the ARPA bus at the stop n.1 or n.2.
The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. The bus leaves approximately every 1
hour, but you are recommended to check the timetable, which can be consulted interactively at
www.arpaonline.com .


The final stop of the ARPA bus is the Collemaggio Terminalbus, which is close to the to centre of
L’Aquila. You can easily get many of the suggested hotels from there, even if other hotels could be

Note that the Termini Railway Station is the destination of many national and international trains
getting Rome from the greatest Italian and European Stations. Moreover, the “Autolinee ARPA”
provide direct bus lines connecting L’Aquila with other Italian destinations (Milano, Bologna,…)

PESCARA - L’AQUILA

The “Autolinee ARPA” bus for L'Aquila leaves from the Bus Station in Piazza della Repubblica
(close to the Central Railway Station).


1. Take the bus n.38 from the Pasquale Liberi Airport to Piazza della Repubblica (every 10
minutes from 5.30 am to 11.30 pm). It takes about ten minutes (ticket costs 0,90 euros).

The bus ticket (cost 7.50 euros) for L'Aquila can be purchased from the Biglietteria (Ticket Office)
of "Autolinee ARPA" in Piazza della Repubblica. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 50
minutes. The bus leaves approximately every 2 hours, but you are recommended to check the
timetable, which can be consulted interactively at www.arpaonline.com .
